Winter Camp for grades 6 to 8

Tier one | $265
$75 deposit
This amount is the real cost of a camper’s participation at Black Lake Bible Camp. This rate covers all operational costs plus the costs of keeping up the camp’s facilities.

This rate does not meet the total cost of camp, but does cover the basic operational costs such as food, staff wages, camp supplies, utilities, and insurance.

This base price is made possible by donors who support our scholarship program. We are happy to offer this to make camp affordable to those who need a bit of financial assistance!
Activities
There’s never a dull moment here at Black Lake Bible Camp! From axe throwing to archery tag, rock climbing to the polar plunge, and everything in between, you’re sure to have fun during Winter Camp.
Chapel Sessions
Chapel sessions open with a time of worship and thanksgiving before moving into a lesson taught by our staff or a speaker. Tracing the theme of the weekend, we’ll open God’s word together and learn more about Him and His plan for us.
Meals at the Dining Hall
We pack fun into every moment of Camp, and mealtime is no exception.
FOOD PREFERENCES AND ALLERGIES:
Our Food Service Department is aware that there are many different food restrictions. With advance notice, we can provide for each of the following special dietary needs: gluten free, dairy/lactose-free, nut-free, or vegetarian/vegan.

When you arrive on campus, you’ll check in your camper and pay any remaining balances. We can’t wait for a weekend of fun, growth, and memories made. It’s going to be INCREDIBLE!

Yes! We offer military, pastor, and missionary discounts, as well as limited scholarship opportunities.
Military discount: 15% off for dependents of active-duty military personnel (must show military ID).

There are a few ways to pay:
We recommend paying online and setting up automatic payments if your child is attending multiple weeks.

+ What is your cancellation policy?
Refund timeline:
- 1+ month before camp: refund minus $75 deposit
- Less than 1 month: $25 cancellation fee + deposit forfeited
No refunds for:
- Disciplinary dismissal
- Homesickness
- Late arrival or early departure (non-emergency)
- No-shows without notice

Health & Safety
+ What if someone in my family is sick?
While we hope you or your family never have to miss a day, we prioritize the health and safety of all campers. Please do not attend Family Camp if you or someone in your household is unwell.
If someone in your family is sick, please email the registrar to confirm your camper’s attendance or request a cancellation: registration@blbcolympia.com
Wellness Guidelines:
- Fever: 100°F or higher, especially with symptoms such as sore throat, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, earache, or irritability. Must be fever-free (without medication) for 48 hours before returning.
- Cold/Flu symptoms: thick green or yellow mucus or frequent cough
- Diarrhea: within the last 24 hours
- Vomiting: within the last 24 hours
- Rash: undiagnosed, especially with fever or itching
- Sore throat: with fever and swollen glands
- Eye discharge: thick mucus or red/pink eyes
- Not feeling well: unusual fatigue, pale appearance, lack of appetite, or irritability
- Head lice: must be fully treated before returning
- Antibiotics: must be taken for at least 24 hours before returning
+ How are campers kept safe while swimming or on the boats?
Water safety is taken very seriously. All campers must pass a swim test to access deep water, tubing, or the blob.
Swim test includes: a waterfront swim, a pool swim, and 60 seconds of treading water. Campers may retake the test daily.
Campers who do not pass may swim in shallow areas only. They may also ride on boats but may not participate in tubing.
Certified Red Cross lifeguards are on duty during all swim times. Boat drivers are trained and must hold a valid Washington Boating License.
All campers must wear approved personal flotation devices (PFDs) on boats, tubes, canoes, kayaks, and the blob.
+ How do you choose your staff members?
All staff complete an extensive application and interview process, along with federal and county background checks.
Staff are selected based on faith in Christ, leadership ability, and relevant skills.

For check-in:

Don’t forget to pack:
- Bikes, skates, or scooters (the kids love to ride around all week - plus we have a 4th of July parking-lot parade every year!
- Bedding for each person (optional $10 linen rental includes bedding, towel, washcloth)
- Towels
- Modest swimsuit (see dress guidelines below)
- Bible
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
- Money for the Camp Store
- Notebook
- Pencil
Do NOT bring:
- Alcohol, tobacco, or vaping products
- Illegal drugs (all medications must be checked in upon arrival)
- Weapons
- Fireworks
If staff suspect any harmful items, they may search camper belongings.
+ What is the dress code?
Girls:
- No two-piece swimsuits (tankini allowed with dark T-shirt)
- No bare midriffs
- No spaghetti-strap tops or dresses (allowed for swimsuits only)
- No strapless clothing
Boys:
- No Speedo-style swimsuits
- No underwear above waistline
- Shirts only off during swimming or water activities
Everyone:
- Avoid overly short shorts or tight clothing
- No visible underwear above waistline
- Avoid strong fragrances

IMPORTANT: Combined dietary needs can only be accommodated with at least 3 weeks’ notice. For example, we cannot guarantee accommodations for multiple restrictions (such as gluten-free AND dairy-free) unless notified in advance.
The buffet and salad bar do not include shellfish or tree nuts. Sealed peanut butter packets are available at a designated station.
